Port of Oakland 3PL: from container arrival to sellable U.S. inventory
Turn containers landing at the Port of Oakland into sellable U.S. inventory, received and shipping from a Hayward warehouse a short drayage move away.
Cloudway is a 3PL for brands importing through the Port of Oakland. We coordinate receiving with your forwarder and drayage carrier, unload and count your containers at our 40,000 sq ft Hayward warehouse, and fulfill parcel, marketplace, B2B and LTL orders from that stock.
The warehouse is in Hayward, south of the port along Interstate 880 — the same corridor container trucks use to leave Oakland’s marine terminals. Customs brokers clear the goods and drayage carriers move the container; Cloudway runs everything from the dock onward. If you searched for Oakland fulfillment, this is the page that applies to you.

Why Cloudway
Why brands choose Cloudway
Containers do not sit at the terminal
Receiving appointments are coordinated with your drayage carrier and forwarder before the vessel arrives.
Short drayage, lower risk
Hayward is a short drayage move down I-880 from the Port of Oakland, rather than a long-haul move inland.
Receiving is a count, not a sort
Carton and SKU labeling requirements are agreed before the shipment leaves origin.
Sellable as soon as it is received
Once received, quantities are published to your channels through mPorts.
How it works
From first call to shipped orders
- 1
Pre-arrival planning
Share the packing list, SKU labeling and estimated arrival. Receiving requirements are confirmed with your forwarder.
- 2
Customs clearance
Your customs broker clears the shipment; Cloudway coordinates timing with them.
- 3
Drayage to Hayward
A drayage carrier picks up the container at the Oakland terminal and delivers it to Hayward for the booked appointment.
- 4
Unload and receive
The container is unloaded, cartons are counted against the packing list and discrepancies are reported.
- 5
Available to sell
Inventory is put away and made available to your channels through mPorts.

Bringing containers through Oakland?
Talk to CloudwayLocal context
The Oakland import corridor
The Port of Oakland is the main container port for Northern California. Container trucks leaving its marine terminals use I-880, which runs south through San Leandro to Hayward and on toward the South Bay. A Hayward warehouse is a local move on that corridor.
Drayage carriers serving the port need to meet the port’s and terminals’ own access requirements, and containers must be returned within the terms of your shipping line. These are reasons to work with an experienced drayage carrier, which we can introduce.
Frequently asked questions
- Is Cloudway located at the Port of Oakland?
- No. Cloudway is in Hayward, CA, south of the port along I-880. Containers reach the warehouse by local drayage.
- Do you offer fulfillment in Oakland?
- We serve Oakland and East Bay businesses and Oakland importers from our Hayward facility rather than from a location in Oakland itself.
- Do you clear customs?
- Customs clearance is done by a licensed customs broker. Cloudway coordinates with yours, or introduces one if you do not have a broker.
- Can you unload a floor-loaded container?
- Container unloading requirements are reviewed before your first shipment so the right handling is planned.
Good to know
- The warehouse is in Hayward, not at the port or in the city of Oakland.
- Customs entries, importer-of-record services and drayage are provided by licensed partners.
- Floor-loaded versus palletized unloading is confirmed before the first shipment.
- Port and terminal delays, demurrage and detention are set by the port, terminals and shipping lines.
